This is a stock 2005 Kona Coiler Dee-Luxe with a Marzocchi 66 VF 150mm fork, Fox DHX 4.0 7.875 x 2.0 shock, Shimano Deore XT rear deraillier, Shimano Deore LX front deraillier, Hayes Hydraulic HFX-Mag XC hydraulic disc brakes, Sun SingleTrack SL rim laced to a Shimano FH-M525 disc rim in the rear, Sun SingleTrack SL rim laced to a KK Disc hub in the front, and Nokian NBX 26 x 2.3 tires.

Ideal for:
The Coiler is one burly burly all mountain bike, and if you've got the legs and the nerve, it can take you anywhere on Galbraith you want to go, from the Ridge Trail to Shawn's Trail.
Over all performance:
The Coiler is very close kin to the 2002 model Kona Stinky, with similar specs and the same bike brand DNA as that classic bike. Truth is, though, the Coiler is a better bike. Its six inches of travel feel as deep as the ocean, and yet the bike pedals very well. In fact, apart from the upright riding position, your first impression when you get on the Coiler is that it's a trail bike. But don't be deceived. When the trail turns sick and steep the Coiler has got what it takes -- in spades. This bike inspires confidence in technical situations.
Front end:
The Marzocchi 66 VF 150mm fork is probably the premier freeride fork on Galbraith right now. I know some people who are positively religious about this fork, and these are folks who wouldn't have been caught dead with a single crown fork a year ago. You pay a fairly steep weight penalty -- the Fox 36 is lighter and has larger stancheons and the TALAS adjustable head tube angle system -- but when you mate this sucker to a QR20 through axel, you've got a really rigid, deep and plush fork that doesn't have the real word, on-trail drawbacks of double crown designs.
Rear end:
The faux-bar, walking beam rear end (sans Horst link) popularized by Kona is one of the most imitated designs of all time, and the imitators just keep coming. A big part of the reason that the 2005 Coiler rides noticably better than older Kona designs is the Fox DHX coil-over rear shock with ProPedal. This Fox shock shock is simply a gem, with incredible plushness, even with the ProPedal stable platform adjustment maxed out. The big limitation of Kona's rear end is that it stiffens under braking, and it is therefore not as good in that respect as its virtual pivot and Horst-link four-bar competitors.
Brakes:
Hayes hydraulic disc brakes come stock on the Coiler, which is excellent.
Durability:
You will break before this bike breaks.
