The Ideal Galbraith Mt. Bike?
Specialized Rockhopper Pro Disc

This is a stock 2005 Specialized Rockhopper Pro Disc, which features a Marzocchi Drop OFF Comp fork with 130mm travel, mag lowers, 32mm alloy stanchions, adjustable rebound damping and preload, Avid BB5 Mechanical disc brakes with six inch rotars, Truvativ Blaze PowerSpline forged 6066 alloy cranks, Poly Bash guard, SUN SingleTrack disc rims, and Specialized Enduro 26 x 2.3 inch wire bead tires.

Model: Specialized Rockhopper Pro Disc
Category: All Mountain Hardtail
Suspension: 5 inches front; 0 inches rear
Ideal for: A skilled rider can take the Rockhopper Pro Disc anywhere on Galbraith, from the Big Rock on Cedar Dust to the sweet flowing Candies
Over all performance: This is a straightforward aluminum all mountain / urban assault hardtail that comes spec'd with a pretty front end, the Marzocchi Drop Off Comp fork, which pushes its performaces to the high end of the spectrum possible from this sort of bike. Hammer serious trails on Galbraith like Wonderland on the Specialized Rockhopper Pro Disc? You bet. Go dirt jumping down at Memorial Field next to the skateboard park too. The Specialized Rockhopper Pro Disc eats that up too.
Front end: The Marzocchi Drop Off Comp fork with 130mm travel, mag lowers, 32mm alloy stanchions, adjustable rebound damping and preload, is the centerpiece of this bike, and rightly so. It's a very nice fork, and one not commonly seen in this price range. All of GalbraithMt.com's Ususal Suspects liked this fork, praising it's plush feel, stability under fire and adjustability.
Rear end: Hey don't laugh -- hardtails rock! Seriously, when the trail surface is good they put the power down better than anything else. And if you're just getting started, they're a great way to save money and learn good technique at the same time.
Brakes:  The Avid BB5 Mechanical disc brakes are decent stoppers which gave us no reason to complain during our tests.
(The devil is in the) Details: Specialized saved some money (for the Marzocchi Drop Off fork?) by spec'ing low end Shimano deraillleurs.
Durability: Just about every hardtail is more durabable than just about every full suspension bike, and the Rockhopper is no exception.
Geometry and sizing: The Rockhopper sports a 69.5 degree head tube angle, and a stand over height of 30.1 inches. Sizing is full and honest.
Weight: 31 pounds as pictured.
